Looking at the T-Mobil Nokia 710 page I noticed something interesting.

Under the frequency bands for the phone they list the following:

850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;
UMTS: Band I (2100);
UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100);
UMTS: Band V (850)

The interesting thing is the UMTS bands.

T-Mobile uses the Band IV (AWS), nothing suprising there, but the listing of Band V (CLR) is.

Band V is a AT&T set of frequencies, so if the T-Mobile site is correct, then this phone if unlocked will work on both AT&T and T-Mobile.

I wonder if the 800 if it ever shows up will be the same way? One can hope.

The 710 actually supports 2100, 1900, 2100/1700 AWS, and 850.

T-Mobile currently used 2100/1700 AWS
AT&T uses 1900 & 850.

Reason number one is that T-Mobile is activating 3G on 1900 in select markets.
Reason number two was the possible merger with AT&T and now eventual roaming on AT&T for 3G in markets where T doesn't offer 3G.

So yes unlocked the 710 would work on AT&T.

The 800 EU version does work on AT&T, but not T-Mobile. The AT&T 900 or 800 they get probably won't have 1700 as none of their current line up does, unless of course the roaming agreement allows them roaming on T-Mobile, then they would want to add 1700 for new devices.
