I thought I'd share my experience with battery life on the W510 over the past few days. I have a unit with the keyboard. Autobrightness is OFF and I set the screen to about 25%, reasonably bright under the office lights and plenty bright in any environment dimmer than that. My wifi and bluetooth are always on for network connectivity and a bluetooth mouse. So, I left the W510 charging Tuesday night then:
Wednesday
- did email and read for about 40 minutes first thing in the morning once I got to work
- had 4.5 hours of meetings throughout the day where I used Onenote in all meetings and opened various spreadsheets and docs in one meeting
- read news for about 40 minutes before supper
- watched a 45 minute TV show streamed from my Plex server
- read my tech blogs for about 30 minutes before bed
- did NOT charge the unit overnight
Thursday
- read for about 20 minutes once I got to work
- 4 hours of meetings throughout the day where I used Onenote
- read news and tech blogs after supper, bit of email for about 40 minutes
Battery check:
- at 56% (100% for tablet, 2% for keyboard)
Friday
- did NOT charge the unit last night
- read for about 20 minutes once I got to work
- updated my jounal (Onenote) for about 30 minutes
- a 45 minute meeting where I took a few notes
Battery check:
- at 46% (83% for tablet, 0% for keyboard)
So, I'm pretty darn confident that the W510 would be able to last a third full day at work ... but I don't have any more meetings today (fortunately or unfortunately?) to confirm that theory. =)
