I just checked my wife's phone. It is running 7.10.8773.98 installed directly from Zune, and it doesn't show sound enhancer in the settings either, unless I just don't know where to look.

I used Seven Eighter and I still have the sound enhancer. That is by far the most important feature I NEED. I'm a heavy music listener, and because isn't really any equalisers available, the SRS option makes a huge difference in my opinion.

I also updated with seven eighter and I still have Sound Enhancer. Works fine as far as I can tell. VZW Trophy.

So why wouldn't I have had sound enhancer before doing this update. It definitely wasn't on my phone. I did get both phones replacednunnery warranty in August could they somehow have had generic cab files on them already?

Those wondering about Sound Enhancer; It used to be a separate application available on HTC phones like the Trophy, but after an update was moved into the "System Settings" of the phone. If you scroll to the very bottom you should see it (not sure on 7.8 so I'm taking from experience on a 7.5 Trophy).

yep, it's there. i guess it's been a while since i saw it.

I'm wondering if because it was an app, and no longer is an app, when we got our repleacement phones it didn't have it, so therefore we didn't have it on 7.5, and now don't have it on 7.8. I did see someone went into purchase history and resent it to the phone, but it doesn't show up in my purchase history, most likely because it was on there when I got the original phone, and I never uninstalled and reinstalled it.

Oh well, guess I don't need it. Haven't missed it in the last 6 months.

I can get my upgrade as of today but out of principal I will be waiting for the flagship Nokia model rumored to be released later this year for Verizon. The lack of communication from HTC on the 7.8 update is annoying.

I also lost patience with another phone (Samsung Focus) - got the Lumia 920. Then I found out I could get 7.8 for the Focus, returned the Lumia after thinking about it for 10 minutes. The 920 is way too heavy (compare to the 8X!), overheats when in use for 10 minutes, can't remove the battery, no hacks for WP8 (ie internet sharing, root tools), can't use Zune to sync. Too many negatives for the big screen and faster processor. I'm happy with my first gen phone, a little slower, smaller, but looks great with 7.8. Posting here since my wife has a Trophy and am waiting out the 7.8. Definitely worth the wait 8.0 is not all positive.

I finally did seven-eighter. No regrets at all. I really like the tile sizes. It's almost a game by itself messing with the sizes and fitting them into patterns.
Sound Enhancer is still available in the settings menu.

For those of you that have used seveneighter to update a Verizon Trophy, can you please tell me what language packs you used? I'm confused because there are two places to look at for languages: settings/keyboard/languages and settings/region+language/display language.

If it's the former, my phone has WAY more languages installed than seveneighter has available. So I'm wary of doing this until I know for sure which batch of languages I need.

Thanks for any advice...

I updated with SevenEighter 8 days ago. I selected all of the language packs because I too observed that there are more on my phone than what was listed. You should be pretty safe selecting them all and installing. You need to update it three times, but it worked like a charm. And 7.8 seems to be running just fine. The buttons on the home screen are just a little sticky.

I'm really enjoying it. I haven't had any other problems at all. It actually appears to have extended my battery life as well.
