What happens when I factory reset my HTC 8s? Is it the same as a new one fresh out of a box?

My HTC 8s has no memory left after deleting apps and everything, and in the other are there is 1.41 gb worth of memory. I thought if I factory reset this will be 0

But how would the backup work in such a case? It records only lists of apps and settings; how to see them and probably restore the apps?

i just want to say that this is BS, i've just reset my phone to get the last update cause of space and i can't restore my backed up data cause, yeah i have to get passed the restore phone phase to actually apply the update.

so ya back up your phone.
reset to factory settings to make room for the last 430 MB update.
get in the phone, apply update
then do nothing cause u can't get to the restore screen again ....

good implementation. really effin awesome. i'm so angry right now omfg ....

have i done something wrong? can i actualy reset>>apply update>> restore phone or am i just stuck to remake every setting and app i had before? i just want an answer.
