HTC 8S - Firmware Update failed

Hi there

I updated my HTC 8S last friday with the new GDR2 update. This worked so far so good. After the update I got a notification, that HTC released a new firmware version, too. "Nice", I thought. I immediately started the update but in the middle of the update (where the cogwheels are shown) the display changed to a "smiley of death" > this one: :-(

Now, when I restart my phone the following happens: White HTC Screen > cogwheels > smiley of death

Does anyone have the same problem or any idea what happened?

That's a very close brick I guess. There were reports about HTC 8X bricking on firmware update. There is WPCentral news article. I would suggest visiting HTC 8X forums for suggestions.
