keyboard dead zone: portrait - q, 1, @; landscape - spacebar, comma, period

The keyboard has dead zone on the left and bottom edge which prevents me typing any letter or symbol with a narrow or short key depending on whether I'm in portrait or landscape. Otherwise the keyboard is fine. The phone has never been damaged or dropped. This issue may have first appeared after the v7.8 upgrade but I'm not sure / memory fails me.

I've tried changing the locale / language and that didn't help.

Really don't want to try a reset.

Any ideas what is going on? Suggestions how to fix? Thanks

Hmm. A soft reset is fine. It does absolutely nothing (except for changing time + date)

Have you tried contacting Nokia about it, though?
