I have not updated my phone just yet. The screen on the phone broke and I sent it out to get fixed and it's on the way back.

Since I was without my Nokia for several days, I switched my number over to my old phone for the time being and I'm wondering if it's possible to update the 822 without re-activating it to my Verizon number. I've read through a few of the threads and see that the update can take several hours. With this being the case and the phone will be out of commission during that time, seems like a good plan to update before I switch the activation back if possible and be reachable on the phone I currently have activated during that time.

I believe the update is over wifi and that seems like something I'll be able to turn on whether it's activated on Verizon or not, is that correct? If so, should I insert my SIM card into the phone prior to the update? That is possible since the phone I'm currently using is a several years old texting phone and didn't use a SIM card.

Please let me know if this is possible and a good idea. Seemed to me it might be the best way to update since it would help prevent any interference of incoming calls/texts that could affect the update and with people having problems with the install, I wondered if this just might be better on several levels. If this sounds like a bad plan in general and I should just reactivate and update that way, that's fine to tell me too.

    What I think,
You need to sign in the phone using the MS account, check for updates and download it via wifi, it should be okay if the phone in question does not have network/cdma connectivity but needs to have wifi.
Make sure the battery is close to full, I'm not sure how long it'll take to update once the process starts as I don't have any updates on my phone yet.
