Melted Charger Port

So this morning my charging port overheated and melted,

I am fighting with Sprint on this. I pay the $8 a month for insurance that covers manufactures defaults without a deductible, they want me to pay $100 to Assurion and I am not going to stand for it. HTC ones me to send the phone to them on my own dime and there is no guarantee they will cover it.

I could've sworn the $8/mo TEP had a deductible on it, even for manufacturer defects (although I could be wrong on that). Either way, I dumped it back in October for this very reason. You either fight it forever and (maybe) win (and in the meantime you're SOL), or you just keep the $8/mo + $100 deductible and buy another phone off-contract or something :-(

Sorry they're trying to screw you over....stick it to them!

The deductible is only for claims through Assurion. I am trying to go straight through Sprint, the third party sprint store/repair store would not even look at it. I called Sprint and they supposed to have done an advanced device exchange but we will see. I tried seeing about submitting a claim through Assurion and they said that it is considered and mechanical/electrical failure so it is cover by Sprints side and not theirs so I was unable to submit a claim that way anyways. I will see tomorrow if Sprint really ordered me a new device.

So yesterday Sprint reps repeatedly lied to me about the replacement order being placed. There was never one placed and many reps said one was placed or they placed one. Today I finally got an honest rep and his supervisor. They placed the order for real and I got confirmation. If it was not for my discount and actually using a lot of data.

Yes it was the real charger, and do not think it had anything to do with the charger as the phone port itself. Now I got a replacement but cannot get 8.1 back on it. It seems to be a common problem now not seeing the 8.1 update on the 8XT.
