Would this be an upgrade for my sister?

Her current computer is an ID49C (Gateway) with only the i3 iGPU and 4GB of RAM. It has some keys missing and non-working USB. I have three options in mind, all involve saving up obviously.

A) Fix her current computer up
B) Get her this.
C) Get her a 1st gen Surface Pro (maybe refurbished).

I'm asking about this, though, because it's thin/light/might be good enough for her needs of playing Morrowind, emulated PS and GBA games, and running GIMP.

I'd suggest the Surface Pro. It is the more powerful of the 3 and has a lot of extras including a stylus.

I would say its a downgrade.

While its a compact device with much much better battery life, fanless design, and is inexpensive, its still less powerful AFAIK. however, it may be enough for Morrowind and everything else.

I'd try to patch up the laptop a bit first.

Morrowwind runs great so dose skyrim and sim city 3000, Sims 3, batman Arkham asylum, five nights at Freddys
I use my USB super Nintendo controller with emulators
Its really surprising how powerful this lil t100 is
