The creation of Android/Windows 8 hybrid machines is nothing new. I personally wrote an editorial a month ago, entitled "A Tale of Split Personalities: Windows 8-Android Hybrids", that concentrated on the negative effects these machines could have on the Windows 8 ecosystem.*
This year at CES 2014, the trend continues as Asus announced its Transformer Book Duet TD300. The unit itself can be dual-booted between Microsoft's Windows 8*and Google's Android Jelly Bean operating systems.*

Dual booting will be a disaster for Microsoft.

Too few developers bother with a Windows 8 app for their software. Now they wont bother at all, and will just tell you to boot into Android mode and use the Android version.

Its funny how everyone complained about Microsoft putting a tablet OS on a PC. Now all the OEMs are putting 2 on there.

Its going to be interesting in a couple of years time, because I suspect Microsoft will be dead and buried by Android, even though Microsoft had the vision of putting one OS on multiple devices, everyone fought Microsoft doing it, yet supported Google.

As we've seen with many things with Google, they kill the competition by giving stuff "free", and once they've buried the competition, they then start to monetize things (for instance GoogleMaps) or just drop the services (like GoogleReader)
