Earlier this week, HP unveiled its holiday lineup for laptops and PCs. While the Envy Notebook 13 is fantastic, our eyes are on the more versatile (and more expensive) Spectre x360. We spent some time with the new version, which you can soon order from HP.com or grab at Best Buy, and came away impressed.

The original HP Spectre x360 from early 2015 was an impressive and surprisingly well-crafted machine. HP has carried that into the 2016 model with nothing but improvements all around. The new iteration is lighter, thinner, smaller footprint, thinner bezel, and it even adds features like an IR camera for Windows Hello.

I ordered the new Spectre x360 13 (7th gen CPU) at HP.com on 10-12-2016. Indicated shipping date with my config was 11-2-2016. I also check my config price after a few days and, bam!, the price dropped $110. So jumped on chat with HP Sales and they credit my payment account upon delivery of product of the difference. HP has price protection, at least on HP.com. BTW, the shipping date for my configuration today is 10-28-2016, but my order still shows 11-2-2016 shipping date. Does not make sense . . .

Update: My configured Spectre x360 13t (Kaby Lake) ordered from HP on 10-12-16 shipped today (10-25-16), ahead of the original estimated 11-2-16 ship date. Yeah! An Ars Technica review had mentioned the delay in prompt shipping was due to updated (optimized?) Windows 10 drivers being needed for Kaby Lake to run on Anniversary edition of W10. We shall see . . .
