Review in Progress: Mass Effect Andromeda

Mass Effect Andromeda is almost here, as the RPG shooter franchise emerges from a five-year stint in cryo-sleep.
Mass Effect Andromeda is already proving controversial. If you're a big fan of the franchise, either you've already played the trial on EA Access, or you might have seen the memes dominating the airwaves, emphasizing the game's sub-par character animations. I've spent the last 3 days playing Andromeda night and day to find out whether it lives up to the franchise's legendary roots.
This is a review-in-progress, as I'm reserving final judgment until I've finished Mass Effect Andromeda's story. If you want to know what the game's like after 40 hours in, here's what you need to know. No spoilers.
