Hello, my audio on ASUS 5738ZG failed after windows update to build 10041, Windows update for driver fails, I fixed the problem by installing audio driver: WinFlash_Win7_8_VER2420.zip (search it in google, I cant post links :( )
Yeah i just bought this toshiba C55D-B5102 last saterday and i did the windows 10 preview build 10041 update last night (which took 12 hours by the way) and when i went to use my computer after that there is no volume icon, i click on adjust system volume and it says there is no devices installed, i checked device manager there is an unknown audio device connected to the high def audio bus, i tried plugging in my headphones and my speakers (separately) and there was still nothing, and i also checked manage audio devices and it says
1-Digital Display Audio
AMD High Definition Audio Device
Not Plugged In
2-Digital Display Audio
AMD High Definition Audio Device
Not Plugged In
please help as soon as possible i really hate this problem and this computer isnt even three weeks old i knew there would be problems with 10 preview but i wouldnt expect no more sound period
After the update a few days ago, the audio driver was fubar'd. After uninstalling the driver, I'm having issues getting any driver installed. Strange business.
Hello everyone, I just registered to this site for this post and I hope I can help a few of you guys and girls.
Here is my experience.
I just got the new update today and the the sound was no longer working.
The icon was displaying a red X.
The drivers where still installed in the device manager but wen trying to update it would failed to a message saying "failed to update driver"
I have tried to remove and try to install back from the device manager and I got to the same error.
After looking up this site I came across something that made me think about trying to installed the Windows 7 driver.
Windows 10 build 10041
MSI WIND TOP AE2010
I downloaded the drivers from MSI support and installed and had my sound again.
www msi com/support/aio/Wind_Top_AE2010.html#down-driver&Win7 64
Just for the heck I have uninstall the driver again and try to get it installed back by Windows
Getting the same fail(No Audio Output Device is Installed).
Device manager no longer as the option to update the driver.
Re-installed the Windows 7 drivers.
Sound Icon is happy and getting proper sound.
For all the guys having problems with sound in the new build of windows 10, I found a solution......
1. Go the device manager and then go to properties and click on update driver.
2.Then click on browse my computer for browse my computer for driver then check the option of only compatible drivers then select the one which is not a realtek audio driver (something like Universal audio..........).
And boom,
The sound starts working again!
Hello again
I would suggest looking for your PC maque and model windows 7 drivers as these are for a MSI all in one AE2010 and may not work for other tips off Realtek hardware
Steps to chose your driver within the existing windows default drivers may work for some hardware but not other
Please send PC make and model to get anymore support
My PC is just now making the upgrade to a higher build so can't wait to see but I am in over a half hour waiting with a % slowly going up
I hope all goes well
Will come back to post after the upgrade is done
this solved my problem

The problem is my Realtek drivers installs / updates perfectly.
I`ve changed about 10 versions of Realtek audio drivers and neither of them work.
System still says "no audio device installed".
After a big update yesterday the realtek drivers stoped working and it was not even possible to install new ones.
I disabled the audio drivers from the graphic card and eventually got windows to accept the realtek drivers for the audio card.
There is another issue I found, and although it was no big problem for me, it can be for other people.
When I installed windows 10 I did not format because I did not want to loose the stuff on the old version of windows. So far so good. Windows 10 just like previous versions created a folder windows.old with the old windows instalation on it.
Yesterday, after the last big update, without asking, windows did exactly the same but with the windows 10 instalation.
In other words, it deleted everything on "windows.old" folder and changed it for the windows 10 instalation from before the update.
So, everything I had there inside the "windows.old" folder from previous windows 7, simply disapeared. That was not nice.
Hi,
I'm also having problems, with streamed audio on my desktop PC from an internet radio station in the U.K. It works fine, until the screensaver cuts in, and then it mutes. Cancelling the screensaver restores the sound. Any ideas?
Sorry I did not reply before this.
Since this PC as first tried to update to build 10049 is as failed after trying to load it for about 3 or 4 hours with a black screen and a circle with percentage going up or was it really? Lol it was so slow.
Now the sound still works but it crash my video driver.
Since then I am having a hard time with any stream I go to.
YouTube and Facebook and any site I try.
Hiya. I'm using VIA HD audio with Windows 10 build 100049. During startup, the audio crashes, and the sound is showing a red X. I run the troubleshooter, and since I have some corsair gaming headphones, it asks if I want to set them to default. I apply the fix, fix doesn't work, but audio works again. I'm using the S/PDIF connection, so I have no idea what is happening. I did save the event log for the driver.
***NOTE*** change the .txt extension to .evtx since I couldn't post it any other way.
Thanks for your time.
Chris
PS. I tired the OEM drivers, but it still crashes, and when the troubleshooter launches, it installs the microsoft drivers again, then sound works for a while untill next reboot.
i re-installed windows 10 but first i didn't have any sound; now i only have the pings from windows but when i want to play music from my external hard disk or watch something on youtube sound doesn't work. please help
i found out how to fix my Firewire-related audio problems:
I noticed that the frame rate was skipping wildly between 44.1, 88.2 and 96 kHz. I then fixed it at 44.1 kHz and now it works!
hello all since build 10041 via audio stops working symptoms are after an hour or so after playing video
the sound starts playing slow motion and the video slows down too the speed. same with games.
it can't be fix until after reboot, and yes I've tried the disabled all enhancements trick . had to revert to win 8.1 sadly
Hi,
I have two big Problems with Windows 10:
First I have some sound drop outs every now and then for example when I listen to music with WMP with my Logitech Headset.
My second Problem is, that i have a VERY bad disorted sound while phoning via Ninja Lite G711a / G711u codec. Its unusable this way.
Please fix this. When Vista SP1 came out, my Logitech headset didn't work either (different headset).
