Ok. So I found the link to this leaked build, and seeing as Microsoft seems ok with it, here is the info for the torrent:

Before you download this, please be warned that it can seriously screw up your system! I seriously suggest whoever tries this does so on a Virtual Desktop, or on an old pc you are going to trash anyway! If you think a sys file is a tv show, don't download this. Experts only!
I'm posting this only for curious people (like me).
Basically
, Educational purpose only.

Download this: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:4875ccc2ac2b0504d3ef5e0690173d471a9e9e27&dn=J%5FCCSA%5FX64FRE%5FEN-US%5FDV5.ISO&tr=udp://open.demonii.com:1337/announce

Add these trackers:

udp://open.demonii.com:1337/announce

udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce

udp://tracker.istole.it:80/announce

You will have been warned!

Also, you won't be able to use Windows Update to update to newer builds, that would have to be installed through ISO. If you think that's a camera feature, or the international standards organization, then also don't download

VERIFY HASH FIRST! (be sure the ISO has not been altered)

File: 9901.ISO CRC-32: 6e7a0939 MD4: e1690db21ae80d2548760694ab3d6566 MD5: bc74d5afe869b4338d99b491a30f9f28 SHA-1: 0f62272d89f89cfe5dc75d4f72be1ec748141473

Use Hastab

Hashtab site Home

BTW VHD is the way to go

There are easier sites to get it than torrenting... look around.

But when you've got a crappy >1Mbps connection, I can assure you that downloading 3.9GB is a pain :p And even if torrents aren't especially simpler, it's nice to know you can just leave ?Torrent in the background without worrying (and that rebooting your pc won't affect it).

I'm installing the build 9901 in Vmware Workstation 11. I added the line firmware="efi" and the installation is started normally. But now it is stuck on "Getting Ready". Any solutions?

Do you think MS will release build 9901 by the 21st or is that scrapped and will send out another build. I am on the Fast track build updates but still on 9879.

9901 was released before Christmas. From what I hear the Consumer preview is coming out at or around the 21st and is a much higher iteration the 9901 so at this point if what you are currently using is stable it is not really worth the time to install 9901.

What I am currently running seems very stable. Much more then expected, except maybe the metro side of it. I was really looking forward to DT Cortana and how that is going to work. I suppose "Spartan" will not be in that build either...

From one of my podcasts it was said that the main core build is labeled "awesome" as a reminder to employees to keep it awesome so guessing that is the branch to keep an eye on. Currently that branch is at 10.0.9924.0.fbl_awesome1501.150115-1755.

Lets see.... let others into my PC or wait 10-20 minutes... not a hard call.

Pfft, use PeerBlock.

BTW, in as much as you are "letting others into your PC" by torrenting, you are letting every server and every ad farm that services every web site you visit and / or download from "into your PC".. sleep well. :p

Just as a bit of a reminder since this thread has new posts again- nobody should bother with this build at this point. Not only is there a new build coming out in the next week, the head of the Insider program also mentioned that there's a bug in 9901 that prevents updates to future builds (so you're stuck on it until you reinstall).

I will second that comment and can tell you I was running it for a while and it has more than that one bug! Recently did a clean install with 9879 to get ready for whatever is coming next. But I can tell you that what was working right in that build was pretty cool..Cortana is present and aware of her counterpart on my phone. She wasn't however fully functional. Am looking forward to seeing how she does in this next release

And I third..

A little tidbit in case someone did not know. If you have windows 7 and above you can boot directly to a .vhd. Option available with the new boot loader. So my preferred way of testing these on my core system is to
1. Create a virtual machine in hyperv dynamically expanding hd 120 gig default with 4 gigs of ram
2. Install the build on the vm
3. My d drive is my data/coding drive so I copy the vhd to the c drive
4. Go to drive manager and attach the vhd and give it a drive letter
5. Add the vhd to the boot menu using either bcdedit or manually administrative cmd prompt using
cd c:\windows\system32
bcdboot v:\windows (v: being the drive letter you assigned the vm.
The vm is now added to the boot loader. When you boot in to the build it will re sync devices and run as the native OS.

Your mileage may vary
