I don't think there's anyone saying win10 mobile is a smoother experience right now. But, I would bet if you compare an earlier win10 build to a current one you'd see good improvement. I'd say it's a little early for such a direct comparison.

Probably too early to compare. Sometimes there is debug code in test builds that they remove right before a final build, that will make it faster.
Nice to know there is some else testing L520.
I went back to 8.1, cause it was just too slow and unstable to use as my daily driver.

I expect the final windows 10 mobile to be slightly slower than 8.1. This is because it is more powerful in general.

That being said, as stated above by others, optimizations are generally done in the last few weeks after getting things in working condition. I do not believe we reached that point. As a comparison the desktop version optimization was mainly in the last 3 weeks or so. In fact, they are still optimizing.

Thank you for the comparison. My daily driver is a company supplied Galaxy S4. However, I really like the unity and fluidity of Windows Mobile. There are just a few Android apps I can't do without. To satisfy my urge to play with Windows Mobile, I bought a Lumia 520. I ran a few Windows 10 Mobile preview builds but I just found the lag to be too much. I'll hold out for the Talkman.
