The reason - no blueeooth file transfer.

Here in India, Lumia 500 is reduced in price for 14800 INR. Great price. But..... no bluetooth file transfer!!!! He bought Xperia - 18000INR

So thats very basic feature. There is an app for sending pictures, but just the picture transfer!

So when we are getting bluetooth file transfer on WP. Do MS doesn't have capability to add that feature directly in OS? I dont think so. Then what is the actual reason?

Anyone knows any development going on in this direction. Any updates, anything.

See this guy from India also asking the same thing: Can i send or receive files through bluetooth on windows phone 7.5 - Microsoft Answers
Also read the comments on that thread. They all have same theme.

I know many Indians are going away from gorgeous Lumia 800 just for that reason.

This feature has also got over 7000 votes (top 6th recommendation) on wp feature suggestion box:
Feature Suggestions: Top (8508 ideas)
Please also vote for this feature on this above page.

I feel we should shout altogether in MS's ears for this feature. This is the only limitation of windows phones that is not getting MS's attention. NFC - they are trying, Consistent platform - they are trying, but no effort on bt heard.

Hoipefully it will come in Tango!

I can't even remember the last time I even used Bluetooth (or even wanted to use it for that matter). As has been said before, its considered an older technology in terms of file transfer, and with the coming rise of NFC its likely to be neglected.

Does NFC have enough throughput to transfer files quickly?

Whenever I think of NFC I think of payment or identification.

I hope we get it. What do they care about what do I do with my files? pictures that I took and songs that I bought? At least I can still send them through text messages.

If you share copyrighted intellectual propertyt that violates the lawe and thats why Congress is trying to pass laws to p[rotect against that by going as usual way way overboard

Have a look at what the N9 does with NFC, I think that would be a fairly good indication of what NFC will be used for on WP. As far as I know it supports file transfer with just a tap of your devices.

I guess. Before it would have mattered to me because back then I used a smartphone without data, but now pretty much every carrier requires you to have data on a smartphone.

Well yeah in this country, but there are other countries where that might not be the case and don't forget some people buy phones outright and use them on their grandfathered plans.

In any case, I'm not in disagreement about bluetooth being phased out. I just wouldn't go so far as saying there's no need.

That's right, the OP did mention they were in India. I suppose if MS wants to sell phones in markets where data connectivity is limited, they should support Bluetooth File Transfer.

What's funny was I was reading the comments under the suggestion for BT File Transfer on the Windows Phone Suggestion page and one person mentioned that iOS and Android users are laughing at him because he doesn't have that feature. Lol, last time I checked, iOS doesn't support the feature either (unless you jailbreak of course).

I had a friend I tried to convince to get a WP7. His only reason to not adopt the platform? Because there are no w/friends games on the platform. And of course Zynga will never comment on why there are no w/friends games. Bastards.

I really hate that. Some companies refuse to develop for WP7 because of it's smaller userbase, and of course, some consumers won't buy a WP because it doesn't have the apps they want.
