Biggest WP7 frustrations

My biggest WP7 frustrations with my Lumia 900. Please respond back and let me know if im crazy here. I really want to love this phone but so far been underwhelmed.

-Why are there so many map devices each of which which have there own strength but non is sufficient on its own (native maps has traffic but nokia maps has public transportation options and nokia drive has gps function). Why dont these integrate somehow into one fantastic map program?

-In music player why cant i skip forward in a song to a certain point in the song?

-No adobe flash

-the main camera just doesnt cut it compared to iphone 4 or 4s

-the volume for the speaker is not different than the volume for the ringer

-on the me tile you cant see who liked a facebook post (have to go into the fb app)

-the copy and paste is much more cumbersome than ios

-hyperlinks in website dont always light up

-phone does not always detect phone numbers and addresses on the screen and light them up as links

-too many of the apps have their own home screen color so that you cant keep a good looking screen in your theme color - looks sloppy

-no native weather app or stock apps and i have yet to find good ad free programs comparable to the ios's weather and stock apps

-when holding the phone you accidentally press the back or search buttons too frequently by mistake

-after holding the phone for more than a minute it leaves a dent in my hand because of the sharp corners on the phone

-why didnt a headset come with the phone and i dont think the audio jack supports a headset like apple's that has a microphone and controls for the device.

-a volume setting of 1/30 is too loud. there should be a softer volume

I'll be honest, with the list of complaints you have listed so far, with, "more to come", I don't think you'll ever be happy with it.

-In music player why cant i skip forward in a song to a certain point in the song? you can, simply hold down the button to the right of play and it will fastforward through or the right, when held down, rewinds

-No adobe flash adobe has actually stopped support for mobile flash, so it won't happen

-the main camera just doesnt cut it compared to iphone 4 or 4s potential for improvement with software, but don't hold your breath

-the volume for the speaker is not different than the volume for the ringer this annoys me too

-on the me tile you cant see who liked a facebook post (have to go into the fb app) i don't use fb, so no help there

-the copy and paste is much more cumbersome than ios i dont see how, a light tap highlights a word and you can drag over to highlight specific portions, or a press hold copies texts, to each his own

-hyperlinks in website dont always light up never had that issue

-phone does not always detect phone numbers and addresses on the screen and light them up as linksnever had that issue

-too many of the apps have their own home screen color so that you cant keep a good looking screen in your theme color - looks sloppy WP7.8 makes the phone more customizable on homescreen in many ways so this might be fixed to your liking

-no native weather app or stock apps and i have yet to find good ad free programs comparable to the ios's weather and stock apps i completely disagree the weather channel ap for wp is awesome...also, Stocks by microsoft is amazing, quotes right on the front page, time updated, loads charts, news, everything without ads. to each his own though

-when holding the phone you accidentally press the back or search buttons too frequently by mistake i use the lumia 710 and im really loving the phyical hardware buttons, but I understand this, I used to tap them on my HD7...though I did it on the galaxy S too

-a volume setting of 1/30 is too loud. there should be a softer volume i am surprised by this to be honest, i thought my htc was loud at 1/30, a little louder than necessary, but the 710 is perfect

Agreed. If there's that much wrong (in your opinion) with the OS and device then the best thing you can do is go back to iOS. None of those things are going to change any time soon, or at all.

The socket does support using a headset with mic/audio controls. My Lumia came with just such a headset (I'm in the UK), but I often use my old Samsung headset with controls because they sound better. The functionality is there though, that's the point.

There is an app called Weather made by Microsoft, which is super simple Metro style and also has Live Tile support for desired location. Stocks is also an app from Microsoft.

Why dont these integrate somehow into one fantastic map program? dont have a nokia, but my htc has htc locations, which works great... one of the things MS announced at the keynote was better maps, they are integrating much of what you just stated on all windoe=ws phone 8 devices, so to answer this question, its coming!

-No adobe flash flash is dead anyway, all it does is slow web loading consume more data. i personally dont want it, but if your going to make comparisons to an iphone, they dont have flash either
-the main camera just doesnt cut it compared to iphone 4 or 4s i have found that using any camera takes a little skill, my htc trophy doesnt have the best camera, but with good balancing and decent light it takes photos which are sometimes better than my wfes old iphone 4... camera apps are also coming that should upgraDE what you are currently using. and trust me the iphone can take bad pictures too, ive used many of them.

summary - you are consistantly drawing a comparison to ios so here are a few thigns we love that ios cant do... 4g, export music directly from the phone, auto upload photos to skydrive, integrate FB into people hub, integrated bing vision, bing music, and local scout, zune>itunes, ziggy>siri, skydrive>>>icloud, wordament, drop my phone and it wont shatter, list goes on... now read this article and have a good day!

To the people saying the wp7 one is fine, have you actually tried copying specific lines on a website? Takes forever to get it right. It's easier to just copy everything and delete what you don't want. Obviously not the way to go

The Lumia 710 is the only Windows Phone I know of with a physical strip of buttons on the bottom so it won't have this issue. Other than that, you'll have to blame technology and manufacturers who seem to all be adding capacitive buttons to all of their phones. AFAIK Microsoft doesn't mandate capacitive buttons, otherwise the Lumia 710 wouldn't exist.

Side note: I also hate how the new Xbox 360 S added capacitive power/eject buttons... bad design decision, MS Way too easy to accidentally turn the system on.

My personal opinion is that you return the phone if you don't like it, especially with your hardware concerns.

Maps has driving directions and for public transit I use mango transit which integrates beautifully

Neither does iPhone and neither will Android jellybean. Adobe is discontinuing flash mobile and good riddance.

If the number isn't written as (XXX) XXX-XXXX then it may be difficult to detect. Addresses are links to make it easier to look up in the maps for directions.

Microsoft has excellent weather and stock apps, there are tons of good weather apps in the market and you can even see the weather by holding start and saying local weather. iOS apps are bland and ugly compared to WP

Most of these are either pretty minor annoyances or represent a misunderstanding of a WP7 feature compared to iOS. Everyone else has already addressed these. FWIW, I have slowly gotten to the point where I am finally preferring WP7 over iOS (on a phone, not on a tablet.) The preview of WP7.8 and WP8 has me really excited about the future of WP, so I'm just about all in now. In my case, it has taken months to really get comfortable with WP. Perhaps you should give yourself more time.

Do you have frustrations with Windows Phone or your Nokia Lumia 900? Some of your concerns are only Lumia issues while others are Windows Phone.

I totally agree, at the same time only Nokia has these apps. In Windows 8 I guess they will integrate these into all windows phones. HTC doesn't have this location app but it cost money.

Yes you can, old down the skip button.

Adobe doesn't make adobe flash for any mobile anymore. In a few weeks it will be taken out of the google play marketplace. The only devices that will be able to run Flash will be old androids that have already downloaded it.

The Lumia Camera does suck, you should try the Titan II. It has the best camera of any phone on the market in the US. The Nokia Pureview is the only phone that beats it.

Open it up and go to notifications it should say it on there. On the actual post it doesn't show and I wish it did.

this is a matter of opinion. I find the copy and paste to be the best implementation of any os.

Might be an issue with the webpage itself. IE9 M has the lastest standards in Internet Browsing but with no flash because Adobe Flash is a resource hog.

What do you mean? In IE or in the messaging app. It does do it in the messaging app and email for me.

If you own a HTC windows phone they have "apps for that" The HTC Hub. I believe Samsung does too. It is only a matter of time before Nokia gets game. This is a Nokia Issue and not Windows Phone.

Yes I this annoying on my HTC HD7, I always hit those keys. When I had a Lumia 900, I found the opposite to be true, I found it hard to hit the buttons when I was trying to hit them. The Titan II is about just perfect when it comes to this.

I had to put a case on my Lumia for this very reason. It wasn't confortable. The Titan II which I traded I got when I traded my Lumia for it feels good in your hand. It is a Nokia Hardware issue.

Most phones like this don't have them outside of Apple. HTC does use the same technology connection as Apple, I found it quite annoying my Apple headsets didn't work with my Lumia 900. My HTC HD7 headset works great with my Titan II.

I found this to be true on the Lumia but it seems different on the Titan II and HD7.

My biggest gripes and compliments of the Lumia 900 were 3 things, Two of them had to do with the screen.

The Screen: 1. it is great in Sunlight. Absolutely too bright for a dark room even on the lowest setting.
2. The colors are over saturated and don't look natural.

The Camera:
really bad for being a flashship device. It doesn't take good pictures in Lowlight situations.

The reason why I returned my Lumia 900 had to do with hardware issues. I had a clicking issue with the top right hand corner and I already returned it once for this very issue. The 2nd time I returned it I got a Titan II. It the best phone that nobody talks about on the market and clearly the best Windows Phone. Not many issues like with the original Titan.
