Windows Phone 8 is built on the same foundation as Windows 8. It can run apps made for Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8. It supports more advanced hardware and has lots and lots of new software features. Windows Phone 7.8 has a different foundation than Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8. It can only run apps made for Windows Phone 7, so new Windows Phone 8 apps will not run on Winows Phone 7.8. Windows Phone 7.8 has a couple new features, but is for the most part just a new start screen and live Bing lock screens (it is unclear if other apps, such as ESPN, can take advantage of live lock screens in 7.8 like they can in 8). 90% of new software features (i.e. things that do not require the new Windows 8 hardware) are NOT coming to Windows Phone 7.8.

The poster had a question, so why make a nothing post? By the way, no reply wanted, just stating what readers also looking for an answer to the question when they found you wasting their time not answering.
