For those of us that have a Lumia phone with an SD card installed it's now possible to move apps to your card!
    Here's how:

    ______________________________________________________
Find storage sense in the app list
(swipe left from the home screen)
    Tap to open

    wp_ss_20140415_0003.png
    _______________________________________________________
    Tap on phone

    _______________________________________________________
    Select apps+games

    _______________________________________________________
Tap to open the check boxes

    wp_ss_20140415_0010.png
    _______________________________________________________
Select each app to be moved or select all at the top
    Choose move

Apps will drop from this list as they move to your SD
    _______________________________________________________
A few system apps will not be moved to SD

    _______________________________________________________

The phone used is the Lumia 521 with a Samsung 64 gig card inserted.
The apps were moved from phone to card then back to the phone for testing.
All movable apps were then moved back to the card.
All the apps moved worked normally after moving.

I noticed that right after moving the apps their tiles were blank in the app list for about 20 seconds then returned to normal.
Storage sense has other features and is a powerful application.

Posting this in hopes it will help clear a few questions about this new feature.
If I made any errors in this how to please let me know so we can present this with utmost accuracy.

    Let's save some space!

    Update:
I reset the phone after doing a full back up just to see what was going to happen.
Before resetting I moved half the apps back to the phone.

After resetting any app remaining on the SD card ended up unavailable.
All other previous settings including phone contacts with pictures, texts and all apps paid and free (on the phone) returned.
Also the third row tiles returned to 2 columns.

64 GB Samsung Class 10 UHS SD.

    Update 2:

To move maps to your SD under 8.1 and above so far:
Find and download then install Lumia Storage check beta as pictured below:
Lumia storage check beta | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

    wp_ss_20141120_0005.png

After installation open the app swipe from "overview" to "details"

    wp_ss_20141120_0002.png
The option to move maps is on the above screen in the middle.
Tapping "change" will allow an option to download maps to the the SD.
    (swipe left to details)

    *Note
You will need to re-download your map choices because this app and
"Storage Sense" have no option to move the maps at this time.

To save space on phones with limited memory you'll want to
delete maps stored on your phone's internal memory.

    wp_ss_20141120_0003.png
Tapping "Store maps on" opens the dialog screen below.
Simply choose where to store your choices from
the settings option to download maps.

    wp_ss_20141120_0006.png
Tapping the "maps" box allows you to manage your
downloaded maps from this screen also.

You may delete or add from the screen pictured below.
Remember your maps will download to
whichever choice you have made above

    wp_ss_20141120_0007.png

Hopefully this clarifies map management for the MM phone users out there!

**All map management screenshots and actions were accomplished on a Lumia 635 running Cyan including the 14203.306 update.

I love that feature. It moved nearly all my apps and games to the SD-Card.
Now I have 60% of my internal 32GB storage free and can install even more apps than before! :D

Now I can forgive Nokia for giving the L820 only 8 GB of storage, even though 16 would've still been more appropriate.

    Good question....unknown at this time.
I believe Microsoft anticipated moving apps from phone to phone with SD downloads.
It's doubtful however that apps will be easily moved
My understanding is that apps will be tied to the phone they were installed on.

Hoping someone on the forum can shed more light on this question.

I just tried doing it...I inserted the card from 820 to 520 and apps were not detected by the phone...inserted the card again..restarted the phone on 820...got all my apps back..

So formating the phone without memory card is a good idea !

    Thanks for the tip.

Anyway, I changed my settings and now I'm installing all new apps directly on SD. I even don't know what tier it is. (Probably Class 4)

Such an useful feature, as most of apps I use don't need to stay in phone memory at all.

Apps are encrypted when installed on SD card. When you hard reset/format you phone, there is a chance that encryption key will be changed and render the existing apps no longer decryptable.

Looks as though a hard reset under the 8.1 preview might not restore if the apps are moved to SD.
    I couldn't conform this because I haven't done a phone reset.
There are a couple of phone reset threads going I'll have to reread them to see what others have experienced.
I'm thinking about resetting my 521 to see what happens.

Just guessing here I tried reading thru a few articles on Storage sense for info.
Almost sure data moves with applications because the files moved are larger the the apps original size.

Here are two front page articles about this feature:

And to all those wondering, yes class 4 SD cards can also be used to store apps.
I use a sandisk 16gb class 4 and moved a lot of games into it and all works like a charm without any lag.

The same route as described in the OP.
When selecting one app at a time or all you will see the option pop up with 2 choices.
You can move back to phone or delete.

Is there a way (yet) to move saved maps to the SD card?
I just checked again I don't see an option to move maps around.
Looks like Storage Check beta is still the the only app that can deal with maps.
I'm hoping Storage Sense will have more features forthcoming.
    Sorry about this...

    Hmmm...
Did your phone have any recent app glitches or perhaps a restart?
Not sure what could be happening here.

I just moved a few apps over and back to check and didn't see anything not functioning.
