Adding apps to the notification center

I was wondering how do you add apps to the notification center? I have the standard email, text, store and now after playing, the Sims freeplay. I've opened virtually all my other apps (facebook, twitter, alphajax, instagram, etc.) but none of them show in the notification center under settings. Do developers need to update the apps so they appear in the notification center?

Have you received any notifications from those apps? I thought that you had to receive a notification before it was added?

Once you receive a notification from an app, the app will automatically add itself to the notification center.
