Not receiving long text messages

I have a Lumia 822 running on Verizon that has been upgraded to windows phone 8.1 and now I am not receiving text messages that are over 160 characters. Normally I would receive them just fine, but now I don't get any of it. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am also curious if anyone else is experiencing this problem.
