I am totally blown away with WP8.1, the only gripe I have is that journalists and many users still only see it as having just about caught up with Android and iOS. What baloney, WP8.1 is now superior to the other two, no contest.

Anyway, I also love the new Start screen background feature. Here as a really neat way of making your own pictures which thought I should share it with you all.

1. Install Microsoft "Fresh Paint" if you don't already have it.

2. Start "Fresh Paint".

3. Select "Inspire Me"

4. This opens a screen with a photo collection from Bing using a random theme. You can select a new random theme by pressing the refresh button in the upper left corner, or alternatively you can type in your own theme.

5. "Accept" a photo. This moves you into a sort of pre-editor where you can choose the default "aquarelle" look (paintbrush with a circle). Press the tick mark to move on to the paint editor from where you can then save the painting. The "aquarelle" look is nice (almost fuzzy) and soft texture which is perfect as a background picture.
