Loading screens of some apps do not fit width

Has anyone else noticed that apps like Vimeo and Weave, when they load, they respectively use a blue and grey background that doesn't cover the whole width of the screen. I think it is because of WP8.1, but it is weird because this only happened after I reinstalled Weave. In Vimeo it is very apparent, you have 2 black bars on the side.

How is this happening? Did WP8.1 change anything regarding scaling/resolutions?
Do you know more apps that suffer from this?

Weave's splash screen den't take the full height of my WP8.1 8X's screen (which probably has something to do with it's use of the status bar), but Vimeo definitely uses a wrong sized splash screen image.
