    Hi all,

I have a Lumia 1520 with 8.1 Developer Preview installed. Prior to the update I got well over 2 days of battery life. Upon update I had quite poor battery life (less than 18 hours), so as you'd expect I did a hard reset which did improve matters somewhat.and I would get 1 day 5 hours or so. Not perfect, but it didn't heat up much so I was happy.

Then came the most recent update, which was supposed to improve matters. Unfortunately for me, it made it worse and I went back to awful battery life. So, as you'd expect I did another hard reset! All seemed to be going swimmingly, giving me estimated battery life of 1 day 15 hours. Sucess! Or so I thought.

So recently it has been showing 12/13 hours of estimated battery life DESPITE saying the battery was draining at 1.5% an hour. Now I'm not Einstein but 100 divided by 1.5 is not 13 as far as I am aware. Soft resets have done nothing and I'm not really keen on doing yet another hard reset.

Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this or how to remedy it? If not I will just have to do yet another hard reset

I guess the moral of the story is be happy with what you have instead of wanting more! Sorry about the essay!

    Cheers.

The estimate is an attempt to gauge the time through usage.

when fresh, it doesnt have enough usage data and probably defaults to 1 day 15 hours until it has more substantial data. My 920 gave me the same thing. It has since become more accurate. (Although still worse on 8.1)

1.5% drain doesn't sound accurate, if you're using the device, TBH.

That's when I'm barely using it. I appreciate during heavy usage it will drain say 6-7% an hour.

darn you, when I got my 920 new (GDR2/Amber) it would clock in at 5-6%/hour!

I've had more trouble doing soft resets than anything else. I suggest doing a single hard reset and not watching the battery so much. I've just done this myself and it's way better. Just give it a couple of days, charge it when necessary.
