According to Storage Sense, the Xbox Music app is taking up 81,05 MB, from which 39,65 MB is installation and 41,41 MB is data. I don't know what this data is, since I haven't bought any music from the store, and local music files aren't counted in this amount.

Is anyone else having this problem?

In fact this is not a problem, some apps you think that the won't take storage.
Check out Nokia mix radio which takes about 60 mb.

Here's a guess: the app might build a database of the ID3 tags in the music to aid in searching by genre, artist, etc. That database would become large if you have a lot of music on the device or in the cloud as the DB would contain the index of both pools of music.

Xbox music app it's terrible, but we all know that. Mine takes up 85 MB, installation is about 40 MB and data is 45 MB. My collection is not big, I have only 2 artists (9 albums) and it is still taking a lot time to load my collection. Xbox music app is not for devices with 512 MB of Ram! It messes up album arts and song tags that I previously have managed as they should be. App sucks!
