8.1 Colors vs 8.0

So I loved the DP of 8.1, but I missed many of the features from 8.0 so I reverted back... and right away I'm met with something that always bugged me about 8.1: The colors, more specifically the blues. The cobalt theme on 8.0 is GORGEOUS deep blue, while on 8.1, when I first installed it, looked like a weird purple rendition, or just a really washed out blue.

Was there a reason for this? Just curious.

Not sure but this could be changed with the final version with firmware update on top of it. Yes the cobalt theme looks ugly on windows phone 8.1 developer preview.

I guess they decided to tweak the colors for a reason, but didn't give an explanation, as far as I know. That's dangerous, because some users, like yourself, will prefer the previous version.

However, the same thing happened with the transition from Windows Phone 7 to Windows Phone 8, so it doesn't surprise me.

What features did they take away from 8 that is not in 8.1?

Cobalt is a bright blue and I'm on 8.1. Maybe check your display color, if you have a Nokia?

I remember reading somewhere that the old 8.0 cobalt was causing image retention on amoled screens. I thought it was bull at the time but maybe there was something to it.
