Unable to put a cursor in dial number

You can't edit a number when dialing. It is ridiculous that you can't put a cursor halfway to take away a 0 for example.
Often when I copy a number from a website it is written like 040 (0)123445689
When you copy and paste it in the dialer it is impossible to correct it. I mostly save the number under a temporary contact 'A' and then edit the number and dial it. Or I do it via OneNote.

So who else really hates this?

I just can't get my mind around such flaws... I mean this requires 2 minutes of a programmers time to implant. But many simple things remain half baked for years, they prefer to invest thousands of hours in something like Cortana, a useless gimmick.
