Do you have to go back to black to get Cyan? I've been told this but I am curious if anyone had the developer OS installed in a Cyan approved region check for the update. It would be wonderful to just get the firmware.

If you have Cyan and install the Developer preview after would you get more updates since the Developer 8.1 is a different version than Cyan?

Thanks

You do not need to go back to black to get the cyan update. You will get it even with the dev preview enabled on your phone.
In the Cyan update, the WP8.1 version is the same as that of the WP8.1 Dev preview.

Hey let me clear off some misunderstanding here. The current developer preview update is the final release. If you have developer preview app installed with the latest windows phone 8.1 update installed you will get the cyan update. No need to go back and downgrade your windows phone and start from fresh. Your phone needs a firmware update i.e cyan update. Just head into phone settings/phone updates and check for updates. As of now cyan isn't available for Lumia 1520 but once its out you can download the firmware update.

Black and Cyan is only the firmware, not the OS. No matter how many developer preview releases you've installed, you always had Black, so there is on way to "go back" to it... you are still on it.

Either way though, the answer is "no".

When Nokia releases Cyan, they bundle it with the OS, and your device will prompt you to download it. You will effectively receive both, but the OS bits will be 100% identical to what is already on your device at that time (assuming you still regularly download developer preview updates, like the one that was released today)

I think all of your questions are also answered in this thread:

Hope that clears things up.

Actually MS is releasing as we speak a slight update to WP8.1 DP

This thread is starting to veer off topic, and we've already got a whole host of threads dealing with all the issues mentioned so far:

For that reason I'm closing this thread. Please continue the discussion in one of the threads I just mentioned.

Thank you.
