I hope wp8.1 won't suck up battery really fast because now the phone will be updating services at every 1 min interval !!

But at the same time apps like battery indicator will be able to give real time update and application with clocks can be pinned on home screen

sent either from my Nokia Lumia 820 or HTC Desire HD

it wont, you can set which app allowed to update and which dont with background app
and code of updating live tile wont be a 1000 lines of code, so it may only take about 1% ~ 3% battery per day

Battery apps will be obsolete, to me at least.

there will be a battery indicator in action centre , so why need a separate app for the same ;)
and htc does have a time tile which updates every minute and it doesn't suck battery so hope for the same here (htc got special API for this from Microsoft )

If battery power sense won't tell me how many hours will my battery last at the current usage, then I'll still need battery apps. Also, I like to receive toast notifications telling me when my battery is draining! Simple things that WP8.1 still won't do without extra apps.

Batter usage on a 1520 isn't even a thought for me it's so good.

Irony is apps like this contribute to battery drain. I just turn on battery sense, it changes the battery icon when the phone is low on juice.

btw battery apps had another limitation, which hinders the reading of the battery status to every 30 min.

So even if the live tile goes down to 1 min refresh, if the previous limitation is still there, then battery apps will still be inaccurate.

Plus we have battery sense now.
