I heard Skype is even more baked into the OS now. Does anyone know if it finally has voicemail support?

Nope, it supports nothing newer than what we already have apart from using an API to be able to hook into the current call screen and launching the app from there.

Wow, that really sucks. I've had Skype voicemail on my other phones forever. I thought MS owned Skype. This must be very telling of the Windows Phone OS limitations. Either that for MS just doesn't care.

Its neither of those reasons. MS owns Skype and they just completed a thorough overhaul of Skype back end from P2P to Cloud. This itself improves reliability of Skype on the back end, not just for Windows or WP but across ALL platforms. Bringing features to WP is a different story and they can be addressed once the cloud sync is successfully pushed on all apps, all platforms.
