Just curious, what do PR1.0, PR1.1, PR2.0 mean? I'd assume Pre Release? Have we had 3 updates, I can't keep track... Lol

Nice no 929/Icon. wonder if that has anything to do with it being Verizon.. Seeing how Verizon is Notorious on very VERY late updates.

This schedule is for a specific region. It doesn't mean anything for alot of us.

I allready stated in the news comments that if the schedule is right about release on the unlocked handsets it's late as hell. As far as I can tell, iOS 8 will have the same time in beta - aroud 4 months, but it's second year in a row when Apple will release a huge update for their mobile OS, MS releaed WP8 like... 20 months ago?
Let's hope that with "Mobile first" Nadella's doctrine things will realy be going much faster, otherwise WP will be sitting on 3% market share until the next MS CEO at very least.

What is meant by subject to change?
Means they may change it. It's not info to be relied upon unless you have access to the latest version of the document.
Basically, can be ignored and added to the rumour section.

If you look at the graphic, between mid July and mid August, like pretty much everything else.

I'm guessing this is for non carrier locked devices? So I can expect my official update sometime in September, I guess?

Regardless of that, this has taken way too long as far as I'm concerned. Almost 2 years to the date of release for L920. That's pretty sad.

I think it's a Verizon thing, but probably for different reasons than you suggest. That chart is for the Benelux countries. They probably don't have the 929/Icon there with those being CDMA variants.

Nokia tend to release these updates along with a bunch of new phone models.

I think Verizon will push the OTA this summer. It pushed out the Black update fairly quickly after the dev preview came out last fall; within two months I believe.

Why is this a secret? Why can't they settle with the carriers and say, look, we have an update and we would like to push it 2 months after RTM, thus you have at least two months to check it. They put up the timeframe and the changelog and it's done. But no.... We will have an update, sometime, this year, we don't even know when, but don't worry, we will have one...

The carriers want to have time to sort out all their ARPU-generating bloatware etc.
One of the reasons I don't buy locked handsets.

They also want to test it on their networks to ensure it doesn't affect security as well as how it affects other users. This can sometimes be problematic, especially when you are talking about MILLIONS of users affected.
Another reason is that setting a hard release date is a double edged sword. If they set the date too soon and the testing finds problems and they have to move back the release date, people get angry and complain. If they set the date to far in advance, then people get angry. Look at what to happened to Microsoft when they set a hard release date for a version of Windows (Longhorn I think), everybody got angry and to quell the anger, they released it before it was really ready... as Windows Vista.

We live in a world with a, "I want my stuff immediately if not sooner" mentality. Sometimes just being patient is all you can do.

My install of WP 8.1 DP is working fine, so I'm not going to complain about how long it takes to release an OS update.
