    Hey everybody,

Today, with the announcements for Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, I noticed something on the screenshots: the notification bar is gone, only the clock is displayed everywhere. This is quit similar to Windows Phone 8 Update 3 and prior. Looks like this old behavior is returning. What do you guys think?

Take a look at the official screenshots: Microsoft reveals Update 1 for Windows Phone 8.1, due next week for Preview users | Windows Phone Central

    Have fun!

I actually didn't notice that. If they do that (make it optional), it would be great ! WP going back to minimalism.

It may be where the screenshots are taken from virtual units and certain features are turned off as they don't work on that environment.

They may not change from the current view but there is always the possibility that they do.

Be interested to find out next week.

One can only pray that Microsoft realises sooner rather than later that the entire original metro with its clean lines, preference for negative space and bold typography will make a stronger resurgence. The way they have watered down the style over time since 7 is infuriating.

So being able to see when you're on Wi-Fi or mobile data and having the time always to hand is a..... Bad thing in your eyes?

Agree, that is one of my favorite things on the 8.1, I can finally see whenever I'm using wifi or celldata as well as my battery without having to constantly touching the top of the screen. I will be very sad if they do go back. One thing is been minimalist and other is just be plain useless

Can live with it either way but the option would be good regardless

options guys... options... I prefer the minimalism, peace of mind, let the phone work and give me what I need and nothing more, also agree with Allicit, being plain dark/clear with bold typography is what I love about wp and my other windows devices
