    If this is obvious and I missed it, they I am going to feel stupid.

    Is there anyway to add custom words to the dictionary or setup abbreviations as in Android?

    <added> and of course I misspelled word...

    Yes. Just start typing. Hit space key and word is underlined as spelled wrong. Click on word and options display. One of those options is the misspelled word with the +sing in front of the word. Clicking that should add the word to the dictionary.
