I seem to have discovered an "undocumented feature", today.
I had turned off the Store option, in Notifications as the number, on the tile was good enough, for me.
Today, I noticed a 2 in the tile and intended to update, after I checked my notifications. After I did, I tapped "Clear All". When I went back to the start screen, the 2 was missing. I went to the store and, of course, no updates appeared.
It seems that, if you have the notifications turned off, they don't appear, in Notifications, but get cleared.
Of course, I may have dreamt it.
