Alarm - Physical buttons silence, but not snooze?

I've had this happen a few times now, but I only just realized it was what is going on. If am scrabbling for my phone in the morning, and squeeze a volume button, the alarm goes silent, and never sounds again. The notification is still on screen, asking for snooze or dismiss, however the alarm is as good as dismissed as it will never get past that notification.

I expected that squeezing a volume button would cause the alarm to snooze, but it seems to just make it 'hang'. Has anyone else run into this? Is that intended behavior?

Yes this was introduced with Cyan update.

This is a "feature"? It makes no sense to me - when the alarm goes off I reach for the phone, press the volume button by mistake and then I'm well-rested, late for work, with the pace of the day totally shot...
