Did anyone notice that since WP 8.1 (including the DP before it went final), there's been a "virtual bezel" around the edges of the display rendered on the Start Screen.

The tiles used to be closer to the edge of the display / flush to the edge of the display, and since, that's not the case. Now run IE and you'll see no virtual bezel rendered. See the difference? Why?

Initially I thought, maybe they're rendering a blackspace which is the same as the gaps inbetween the tiles, just to keep it uniform. But imo, it looks ugly as hell and makes the bezel look twice as thick.

I'm running a Lumia 1520 and have always been a big fan of how smaller the bezel looked... until 8.1. Now it just looks chunky and makes the screen look smaller. A nice thin bezel looks GREAT on WP.

I'm amazed no one seems to have spotted this before.
