Lumia 930, Denim. Given it a factory reset but still having this problem. Hey Cortana works fine but at some point during the day it will just switch off, making it a bit pointless as it never seems to be on when I want it. How do I fix it so Hey Cortana is always on? Perhaps there's an app that'll switch it on again automatically each time it switches off?

Any guidance from you experts? Ta chums.

I highly doubt we'll see an app that can do this? Must be a bug

If so, why am I not seeing everyone post about this issue? I fear it may be a fault with my new phone, but oddly the only fault? I am very confused. Should I take it back to the shop?

Before going back to the store, let's go through the normal list first :P

    1. Soft reset (Vol down + power button) -- do at least two soft resets

    2. This is the big one. Hard reset. Make sure everything is backed up and be aware that you will lose everything else that isn't

maybe some battery saver setting messing it up, is it marked as "always allowed" on battery saver? or maybe sync problems? have you installed w10 on pc? is it disabled there?

I have tried soft reset, but by holding down the power button for 10 secs. Are there several versions of soft reset? I'll try the vol down version.

I have tried a full factory reset as stated. Did that after installing Denim because I had the slow rotation bug after camera use that many get with Denim (the hard reset solved that). I have just got my phone and so that's effectively 2 hard resets. I can't keep resetting, I just don't have enough life to spend it fannying with my phone all the time.

Syncing is fine, and I certainly don't have that awful Win10 installed on anything (and it never will be if they don't keep the legacy interface out of my immersive modern interface). So yes, both Cortana and Hey Cortana are effectively 'disabled' on my tablet and PC as it is not available on Win8.1. Could it be that Hey Cortana only works if Win10 is installed on my other devices? But surely there'd be loads of posts about this?

Battery saver is set to come on at 20% and rarely does before I top up. Cortana is set to stay on even in battery saver mode though. Is there a separate setting for keeping the Hey Cortana feature on during battery save? I can't find it. Still, I can confirm it will switch off even if battery saver has never engaged between checks.

What concerns me is that, after a hard reset, this keeps happening and seemingly only to me. So either my phone is broken or I'm doing something wrong here.

There is only one version :p Not sure if just holding the power button has the same effect

Well, I've soft reset with vol down twice and put it on charge. We'll see. Interestingly this soft reset method resets the time (it takes a little while to sync, so noticeable) and erases my Data Sense history, which the 10sec power button method does not do. So I can confirm there are at least two levels of soft reset available.

Just holding the Volume down forces the hardware to reboot (this is useful if the device is frozen or otherwise locked up) - this is not the same as a soft reset

Bad news, she turned off again. I might be seeing a pattern, Hey Cortana was off when I powered on my phone and was definitely on when I turned it off. I do switch off my phone for meetings so this could explain things, though it certainly does not always happen when I power off. I don't even think it happens most times I turn it off.

Am I really the only one? It's beginning to feel like a hardware fault again.

Reflash it with the Nokia tool, you may have a bugged rom, the hard reset wouldn't fix that

Hmm, not keen on doing that with my new contract phone. No Nokia Care near me either, I'd have to go all the way to Eastbourne and British trains have punishing ticket prices (seriously, you wouldn't believe).
