system storage keeps growing

I posted another thread about my app storage growing. It turns out it's actually the system storage. If I move apps over to the SD card the system storage grows until my phone starts giving me low storage warnings and acting up in all kinds of crazy ways.

Deleting the temporary files will free up about 20 MB even though it always says 0.

I haven't had any system updates either. I'm waiting for WP10 to hit for the 1520. With my storage issues that may not happen.

Right now I have 13.97 Used 607.91 free
Apps 3.28
email 263.48
system 10.17 (used to be around 8 when I first looked)

Set the date to 10+ years into the future, power off then on, wait 20 minutes. Reset to today, off/on. You'll see a lot of shrinkage.

I recall seeing that 10+ year thing before but didn't pay attention to what it was about.

It's weird that the system space keeps filling the free space like it is. Anyone know what's going on?

Just starting the process now and waiting 20 minutes.

Sorry man. Was worth a shot. BTW, the system files on my L630 is at 3.31gb. Is your 1520 all ip to date? Have you manually checked for updates?

Yeah, it's on the developer preview. Waiting for WP10 or denim to hit at some point.

Hmm, I can't see a reason a 1520 would require 10 GB vs. 3 GB on a 630.

That makes no sense. Weird. Hate to recommend, have you tried a hard reset? If you do make sure and back everything up first..

Does doing a restore free up system space? My worry is that will change nothing and then I won't be able to upgrade to WP10 either.

It just ate up another 300 MB I freed by moving more apps to the SD card.

I just did the restore and it wasn't as bad as I thought. It's a little quicker than an upgrade and the home screen or OS version didn't change. It dropped the system storage to 2.8 GB!

Even though apps were on the SD card it's still downloading them again and reinstalling.

The phone seems to be working better too. Phone feels more responsive, LinkedIn is working again and animations seem a little more fluid.
