Microsoft to Launch Two Windows Phone Flagships and Two Mid-Range Devices - Report

Here is the first info on what could be the new flagships
Lumia 930 is expected to get a successor this year

With Windows 10 for phones currently in development and Microsoft focusing so much on low-end devices, everyone?s wondering when the company will actually roll out new flagships that would truly help its mobile platform compete against high-end Android and iOS devices.

Previous reports pointed to a fall of 2015 release date for new flagships, and now thanks to a report published by NPU, we also have the first details regarding these new phones.

First and foremost, it?s worth mentioning that Microsoft won?t launch just one flagship, but two, both of which are expected to be successors to the Lumia 930.

The Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL will embrace the same strategy as the Lumia 640 series and will come with a regular version and a configuration with a bigger display.

The Lumia 940 will have a 5-inch display, the aforementioned source notes, whereas the Lumia 940 XL will come with a 5.7-inch screen that would push it in the phablet range.

Both devices will come with rear cameras with around 25 megapixels, whereas 5-megapixel front-facing units are very likely. More advanced features that should to help make the most of Windows 10, including 3D interaction and iris scanner for Windows Hello, could also be offered.
Two mid-range devices in the pipeline

And yet, these new flagships are not the only goodies that Microsoft is working on right now. A successor to the Lumia 830, presumably called Lumia 840, could also see daylight this year with a 14-megapixel rear camera with PureView, a 5-megapixel front-facing unit, and updated hardware. A 5-inch display is very likely too.

And last but not least, there?s the rumored Lumia 740 XL, which could once again help Microsoft tackle the phablet industry with a 5.5 or 5.7 inch display and specifications that would be very similar to the ones of the Lumia 840.

Obviously, all these details are still unconfirmed right now, so don?t take anything for granted until we have more evidence on these devices. They?re all expected to be launched either together with Windows 10 for phones or soon after that.
