    Hey guys,

Today, I noticed that http://www.computemark.com/wpb/index.php?osses=true& spotted a new version of Windows Phone 8. However, not in the current 8.10 branch, but in the 8.15 branch. Build 12375 to be exact. This explains why 8.1 to 8.1 Update was such a huge jump in build numbers, they reserved a couple of them for this 8.15 release. This sure is intresting, and the jump to 8.15 suggests that it isn't an update like 7.5 to 7.8, as both where 7.10, but that it realy is a major update.

If this realy is going to be Windows Phone 8.x, we might also be heading for another Windows 8 preview this 30 September, instead of Windows 9. And it would also explain why it's rumored that Microsoft isn't naming this Windows Preview release.

    What do you guys think?

Interesting... if this source is credible (in the tech world I honestly don't know) then you may want to tip off WPCentral. Kinda curious to see what they would make of this.

The source is credible, they also found builds of Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 Update before they where released. But then again, just numbers.

There's also this.. NT 6.0 was Vista, 6.1 was Windows 7, and 6.2 was Windows 8.0, and Windows 8.1 is ultimately Windows NT 6.3. But build/version numbers don't always dictate minor updates - otherwise Windows 8 would have been versioned as NT 7.0 since it was such a radical change - much like the huge difference between Windows 2000 (NT5.0) and Vista (NT6.0) - XP/Server 2003 was 5.1, Server 2003 and XP x64 edition were 5.2 as they shared the same codebase.

Additionally, it could be WP8.1 GDR2 - they did say they were going to release two of them this year - they could officially launch GDR1 and unveil GDR2 at the same time, (shortly thereafter releasing it to Preview users), with the public release in November. Just a theory of course.

Microsoft never said anything about how many GDRs there would be. Neither did they ever update the minor build number for a GDR, even 7.8 wasn't worth the bump, why would a GDR? Anyway, the version we get to see, 8.10.14157.200 isn't the actual build number, so yes, minor bumps mean minor updates, major bumps mean major updates. The actual version of Windows Phone 8.1 is 6.3.9651. This 8.x version is just to cover that build up. So there is no reason to make a jump to 8.15 if it is just another GDR.

I draw your attention to the following article: Windows Phone 8.1 to get at least two OS updates in 2014 | Windows Phone Central

Excerpt 1: "GDR1 and GDR2 are already on the roadmap for this year, with a possible third one in 2015 before the next OS revision, codenamed ‘Threshold’."

Excerpt 2: "coincides with other information that we’ve overheard. For Update 2, we’re looking at once again a November/December launch"

It is "revealed" that Microsoft is working on 2 GDRs for 2014, but again, not said by Microsoft themself..

Does all of this coincide with the late 2014 new MS / Nokia phone releases?
I've been waiting and looking for any news regarding the Lumia 1525; so far nothing found.
However I found that a there may be new phones with the 1530 ("30") designation; 30 series being with 8.1 forward.
Any chances that MS is testing the snap dragon processors in these phones prior to release to make sure the 8.1 is functioning 100%?
I'm just guessing; just wanting to find some results to all of this...
    Thoughts?
