DVDFab (Paid) + Handbrake (Free)

I use a two-part process (I only rip standard DVD's):

1) Rip full DVD to computer hard drive (menu's and everything).

2) Use mirror image from hard drive to create digital copy with handbrake - this seems to fix the 'drifting' audio issue that can occur when trying to rip using a one-stage process.

If you 'Bing' "DVDFab + Handbrake" you'll find quite a bit of information about Handbrake settings etc.

While I use DVDFab to rip files to my WHS, I don't really transfer them to my phone. I have transferred files from my main PC that I converted using Xilisoft Video Converter. It has multiple profiles, and produces great quality. If you have a modern video card it is quite fast as well. I think the program is $30 (maybe $40) but it could not be simpler to use. You simply select the file - choose the profile (the iPhone & iPad profiles work great for the Lumia 920 as does the HD Video profile for an .mp4 file) and click start.
