Hey all,
long time android user here. recently bought a used HTC 8x Windows Phone 8 to test out and use as a VOIP device. When I first saw the phone I knew there was something off about it, it booted with the windows 8 "not for resale" in red, and had white number engraved on the top left front face of the phone. The phone is a Verizon branded device but it is unlocked to work on any carrier (as the previous owner had it on TMobile).

Here is the specific information:
OS version: 8.0.9900.568
Firmware: 1532.18.09202.605
Boot-loader Version: 0.92153218.02(153904)

Since this is a test/developer device (or so I think) it is not letting me update the software. I wanted to know if there is any flash or something I can do to upgrade to the newest software? And if anyone has more information on these types of devices. I cannot find information anywhere online

Photos attached! Thank you in advance!

I have no clue, but with this you should go to xda-developers.com. There's always someone who knows it, just ask in the 8X forum there.

Contact HTC. They will give you a new one for the one you have.
I'm worried the phone could be stolen or maybe it was a store test device? I still dont know what those white numbers mean on the top left..Do you know if this is a dev phone/test device? or just a store model?
