VLC Media Player for Mac OS X and Windows Phone 8 (Nokia Lumia 820) Streaming

Hey Guys!

I'm just wondering if anyone of You found solution to this:
I'm trying to stream my music and videos from VLC Media Player (i'm using Mac OS X 10.8.4) to my Nokia Lumia 820 and I'm using Video Player For VLC app on my phone.cant get around this at all.found some tutorials but i have to edit .hosts file in VLC which for some reason is not in this folder and neither on my mac.or if you found better solution to do it (free or paid apps) please drop some advice.

I also could not get it to work, but i didn't really put an effort, anyway, use Splashtop 2 | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)
Its streams your desktop/laptop live with audio. NOT a VLC Mirroring app.

okay, I don't know how to do it BUT if editing the hosts file is the problem and you don't want to enable hidden files, just do it like this:
1. open a finder windows, hit shift+cmd+g
2. enter /etc/
3. drag the hosts file to your desktop (it'll copy it, not move)
4. edit the one on your desktop, save it (and make sure the ending isn't txt after saving)
5. delete the one in /etc/
6. drag the one from the desktop to /etc/

have you tried watching a video through it? does it lag? how is the video quality?

(my idea is to use it for watching online videos, which can't be streamed on windows phone)

used splashtop 2 and i have to say it works but......audio lags pretty badly and video is a no no.its cool app to use as emergency access to my files but i wouldn't use it as a audio streamer.

i didnt even knew mac had hidden files :/ just edited .hosts file and it freaking works thanks a lot man saved my life today
