Hi everyone, especially Lumia users
Have you install the new version of Cinemagraph?

Last days I read news on WPCentral, said that Cinemagraph bumped to the new version with 720p animations capabilities. Well, it's a good news after all, so I updated my Cinemagraph. This morning, I tried out this new Cinemagraph, and capture a short animations. I put some arrangements like crossfade and color effects, and save it to my memory card as usual.

The problem is, when I tried to get the GIF files by browsing the memory card from my computer, I cannot find any. It's just JPG and NAR files, and as you know it already, JPG is not an animation, right? Where is my GIF files then? Last version (before update), I am 100% sure that my Cinemagraph save the animations as GIF, as I can see my last GIFs around early June.

Anyone encountered this Cinemagraph issue too?

so sad that there's even no one reply to my thread.
Good news: Cinemagraph is updated
Bad news: still doesn't save as GIF

Better off to Nokia Discussions, it's been a shame that no one cares to leave any replies here, even this is a Windows Phone forums.

Same issue here. I've just noticed that all my lovely cinemagraphs are essentially trapped either on my phone or uploaded to nokias servers with no option to save as gif or keep a local copy. what the hell?

BUMP.

any ideas on how to save to GIF's?

UPDATE: one has to share the cinemagraph through the cinemagraph interface ( click "SHARE" -> "EMAIL") and then the cinemagraph will be uploaded to the nokia servers, and then you will be provided by a link. open that link and there is "download as gif" . pretty lame but that's the only way to get to the gifs

I went through these gyrations to get the gif file on my phone however my lumia 928 does not play the gifs in the photo gallery. My Lumia was swapped out for a microphone problem and while my jpg photos from the old phone were synced to skydrive it is only the jpg file that is saved to sky drive. That is a problem. No way to get the cinemgraphs natively back on my new lumia. Someone didn't think this feature and app through.

I contacted Nokia support to see if there was a way to retrieve the native files back to my new nokia phone or a way to display gifs in the photo gallery. This was their reply.
Lesson this can't be done after the fact.

Hi Bryan,

Thank you for emailing Nokia Care.

We understand that you saved your Cinemagraph files to Nokia Memories server and SkyDrive and you would like to restore them to your new Nokia Lumia 928. However, we are sorry to inform you that the said files are uploaded for sharing only.

On the other hand, Cinemagraphs can be copied to a PC and back to a mobile device by connecting the device and the computer with a USB cable. Be sure to copy both the .npo and the .gif files associated with a cinemagraph. For Apple computers, download and use Windows Phone Connector Software for this.

You cannot backup cinemagraphs for SkyDrive as it does not support the cinemagraph format. It is possible to upload cinemagraphs in gif format to SkyDrive; however, they cannot be downloaded back for further editing.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. To ensure proper handling of your case, kindly continue using the current subject line.

If you would like to contact us through voice call, you may call Nokia Careline at 1-888-665-4228 from Mondays to Fridays at 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST (closed on national public holidays) for immediate assistance.

Kind regards,

Still no Chance to get the Cinemagraphs easy in a GIF-Format and not in JPG?
Why they use JPG for Skydrive-Upload? And why is the Resolution of the GIF just 800*450 and not HD?
