touch screen works when reseting only!

Nokia Lumia 820 windows phone. The touch screen does not work,However when I reset the phone the touch screen then works,but when I hit the power button and it fads to black, the touch screen does not work. What is the problem here? How do I slove this to make it work all the time?

It all happened because I chose to use a windows update!

What do you mean when you say it happened because you chose to use a windows update? Have you tried to do a Hard Reset (you lose all your data but your phone basically reinstalls itself from scratch) using the hardware buttons?

With the phone turned off.

1. Press and hold the power key until it vibrates.
2. Now press and hold the down volume key until the exclamation mark appears on the screen.
3. Release the button and input this combination.
   Volume Up > Volume Down > Power > Volume Down
