Auto-linking contacts is bad

If I want to add contact details for someone, WP asks me if it's a new contact or an existing contact. If I say it's a new contact and anyone on any of my accounts has the same name, WP will link the contact to the other person anyway, even though I just said it was a new contact. Many people share common names, so this is very annoying. Not least because when you unlink them the history isn't tied to the phone number that was used, but to either one contact or the other. Why can't it just ask if you want to link after you've saved the new contact?

So I don't like this feature at all, but I can't find how to turn it off.

I only have one person with a given name. It is a very helpful feature.

Lol. Oh well if you personally don't know two people with the same name, clearly there's no problem. Lucky we have your insight.

Hence, the need for a middle name, or nickname. That's what I've done with duplicate names with different people.
