Duplicate calendar entries

Howdy

I just recently got into this Windows Phone business.

I'm syncing my calendar with my outlook account. When I add an appointment on the phone, it correctly appears on my outlook calendar as well. However, in my phone I suddenly have two entries for the same appointment. One is colored blue, for my theme, and the other purple, for outlook. I sense something strange is going on with the syncing system. What do?

Do you have more than one outlook.com account?

I do not. I created a microsoft account for the phone, which gave me an @live.com email address. I also added this same account as a "hotmail" account onto the phone. The reason being is that under settings, the "Microsoft account" (which is exactly the same as the hotmail one) only has options for syncing email, while the "hotmail account" has options for syncing everything

EDIT: Turns out that was exactly it! Thanks for the tip. Apparently the default "Microsoft account" syncs everything by default without options to set
