Windows 8 os not windowsphone on smartphone!!

Why Microsoft didn't install Windows 8 os on smartphone so that the same operating system used both smartphone , desktop, laptops tablets???widows 8 in htc 8x,ativs and lumia all must be Windows 8 not windowsphone 8+.
!!????

If this can, Windows will be most fastest and popular mobile os from desktop.. Real operating system in universe..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Dump the segregation WP, RT and WIN8. Let the "New UI" in Win8 run WP apps and let RT tablets run WP.

That is where Microsoft seems to be heading , they want to unify stuff.

Imagine how awesome it would be if WIndows Phone, Windows 8 ,Xbox all had many many apps. Life would be good.

I think it's moving in that direction, but know that you spend a lot of memory to achieve full functionality of the PC OS. I expect smart phones to be capable of running the full OS soon, but they're not all there yet.

I think this is the future of computing- a device you can carry in your pocket with all your data, but can function as a full-up desktop PC with a fullsized monitor and keyboard.

This probably won't be marketable as Windows 8; more likely for a future Windows release. But showing they they can do this illustrates how close they are to a marketable solution.

I think this would be analogous to what Ubuntu Edge is trying to achieve but in a much grander scale and much more integrated with Microsoft services.

Seriously, remove desktop mode from Windows 8 RT and put it on everything portable. All we need is a better mobile office.
