I had a turbulent time with my GDR 3 update - I ended up with:
Anyway, I bit the bullet and did a hard reset, knowing full well the problems I have had before and expecting a painful evening..
All I can say is don't be afraid of hard resetting after GDR3 - it's a breeze!
Not only did my install complete properly (still with the exception of the ringtones but I can live with that - at least I don't have an attractive Lumia 820 brick) but there was no stuck gears and you get WiFi connectivity on restart before you get your personal data back.
Once restarted, every app was there waiting to be reinstalled and even my colour scheme was saved
I had to hard push Amber again using one of the tools in the Store but hey - I'm back :wink:
I'll see if the personal ringtones filter down at the next update.
Edit: Ringtones are there - I just hadn't made any custom tones for them to appear!
- None of my apps opening - everything with the exception of pre-installed apps/OS apps just refused to open
- The Screen Rotation and Driving mode in Settings doign nothing when pressed
- No personal email/SMS ringtones
