Help please if you can..

Never used Skype before but want to keep in touch with my family when I'm working away over the next few weeks.
I have just downloaded the app for my phone and have set up an account via my Windows account.
When I log in to my Win8 laptop, the Skype app on there already logs in as me so how do I make a call home? I presume I need another account, in which case I'll have to make another Windows Account for my wife to log in with.

Also, how do you select a contact to call in the first place - I typed in for example "Dave Cooper" and there are hundreds of them - how do I know which one is my mate?

Yep, your wife needs an account. So if you're signed into the one at home, sign out and then make sure she is signed in.

Best way I've found to add a contact is to find them by email address not by their name. Like you said there could be a huge number of results for the likes of John Smith etc. So when you're searching just type their email address in and it will find the one you're after.
